"I think they did an excellent job in developing a master plan that encourages public use but, at the same time, preserves the heritage and natural resources of the site. They saved the pond and the springs; they preserved the family cemetery and many of the old buildings on the property. They really focused on keeping it natural. You can tell the moment you come through the entrance - through that beautiful pecan grove - that it's not just another municipal park."
